Minnesota Wild Defeat Dallas Stars, End Their Season

The Minnesota Wild defeated the Dallas Stars for the final game of the 2010-2011 NHL Season. The final score read 5-3. It was a win or go home situation for the Dallas Stars. Had they defeated the Wild, they would had advanced to the playoffs, earning a tiebreaker advantage over the Chicago Blackhawks. However, the Stars could not steal 2 points from the Wild. Although the Blackhawks lost earlier in the day to the Red Wings, they hung out to their playoff chances thanks to the Wild. I'm sure the Blackhawk players are pretty big Minnesota Wild fans today.

Minnesota Wild Remaining Games

The Minnesota Wild have 3 games left for the 2010-2011 NHL Season. Although they are now mathematically eliminated from the postseason, the games are still exciting and entertaining. The Minnesota Wild will face the Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, and Dallas Stars to wrap up the regular season. What a better way to see the Minnesota Wild square off against the Dallas Stars in the season finale.

Minnesota Wild Drop 2 Games

The Minnesota Wild lost 2 important games in 2 days, to the Nashville Predators and the Dallas Stars. On Thursday night, the Wild lost 4-0 to the Nashville Predators. On Friday night, the Wild once again lost 4-0 to the Dallas Stars. These two losses sting, as every game and every 2 points is huge. The Predators jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period against the Wild and never looked back. The Stars scored 3 times in the second period to break open a 1-0 game. The Wild will play at Vancouver on Monday night.

Minnesota Wild lose 4-3 to Dallas North...I mean Dallas Stars

The Minnesota Wild fell to the Dallas Stars 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night. Antti Miettinen, Chuck Kobasew, and Martin Havlat all scored for the Minnesota Wild. Stephane Robidas scored for the Dallas Stars in overtime on the powerplay to secure the victory. The Minnesota Wild now stand at 11-11-4. They have lost 7 out of their last 8 games. They currently have 26 points through 26 games, the same pace that they had last season after 26 games.

Koivu captures Minnesalsa title

Wild Captain Mikko Koivu was deemed the Minnesalsa Player of the Week after making three points over the three games last week, including two against the Dallas Stars on Sunday. Over this past Wild season, Koivu had 22 goals and 49 assists. This was Mikko Koivu’s first win of the Minnesalsa title this season, while Guillaume Latendresse has captured four and Andrew Brunette has three.

Minnesota Wild Last Home Game

There is still one more chance to see the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center this season - Saturday April 10th.

The Minnesota Wild will face off against the Dallas Stars on Saturday April 10th at 7pm - the game is bittersweet as the Minnesota Wild will NOT be in the NHL Playoffs this year so this will be the last game at the X. The Wild promotions department is trying to sweeten the game experience though by calling it fan celebration night and offering up autographed Wild jerseys, pucks, sticks and more. It should be a fun night and there are still tickets available from ticket brokers like Ticket King. Besides it could be Mike Modano's last game, it would be kind of cool to own a ticket stub from Modano's first game and his last game. . . both taking place in Minnesota.

Wild Play Well against Red Wings

The Minnesota Wild lost to the Detroit Red Wings at the Xcel Energy Center last night. It was a tight match-up and the Wild lost in overtime 3-2. The fluky goal that sent the game into overtime must have hit a players skate and then one of Backstroms pads. I still don’t know how it went in. The Wild skated extra hard against the NHL leading Red Wings and despite the loss, coach Jacques Lemaire had this to say:

"I thought we played our best game of the year," said Lemaire, "I'm really happy the way our players played. We played hard. We got a point."

Up next for the Wild is another home game against the Dallas Stars tomorrow night. The game is sold out through the Wild and it looks like it is a hot game for ticket brokers as well. Ticket King has Wild tickets starting out at $70 each for the Wild vs Stars game. I guess Minnesota fans are still excited to see Mike Modano and the old North Stars take the ice.

Minnesota Wild Schedule

The Minnesota Wild schedule is not an easy road in the next two weeks. The Wild played the second place Dallas Stars last night and again on January 7, and then the first place Detroit Red Wings on January 10. This is a mean stretch in the season, let's see if the Wild can hang in there in the Western Conference standings. Go Wild!

XCEL ENERGY CENTER WAS ROCKING

I was lucky enough to score a couple of seats to the Minnesota Wild vs. Dallas Stars game last night. I paid $100/Ticket for a couple of seats in section 119 from Ticket King which appears to be the online broker with the best prices on Wild Tickets. Even though it was more than I am used to paying for a ticket to the Minnesota Wild, I feel like I totally got my moneys worth. What more can you ask for? The game wasn't decided until the last shooter of the shootout. Mikko Koivu was again the hero with his patented backhand flip to win the game for the Minnesota Wild. The Minnesota Wild picked up a crucial extra point by beating the Stars and moved within 3 points of division leading Vancouver. I just hope that they can keep it up and make a big push for the NHL Playoffs.
