The Minnesota Wild defeated the Dallas Stars for the final game of the 2010-2011 NHL Season. The final score read 5-3. It was a win or go home situation for the Dallas Stars. Had they defeated the Wild, they would had advanced to the playoffs, earning a tiebreaker advantage over the Chicago Blackhawks. However, the Stars could not steal 2 points from the Wild. Although the Blackhawks lost earlier in the day to the Red Wings, they hung out to their playoff chances thanks to the Wild. I'm sure the Blackhawk players are pretty big Minnesota Wild fans today.

Pursuit of Zach Parise?
Zach Parise, the golden boy for the New Jersey Devils, will be a free agent this upcoming season. Parise has several Minnesota connections, including playing at Shattuck St.-Mary's in Faribault, Minnesota. His dad, J.P., played for the Minnesota North Stars and coached the team, as well as coached at Shattuck St.-Mary's. Parise is a star in the NHL and will be courted by numerous teams. Can the Minnesota Wild make a push for Parise?
Minnesota Wild Fall to Vancouver Canucks
The Minnesota Wild were defeated 5-0 by the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night, in Vancouver. Ryan Kesler scored a hattrick and Mason Raymond chipped in the other two goals. The loss leaves the Minnesota Wild with 82 points. They play at the Edmonton Oilers tonight, who currently have one of the worst records in the league. Both teams are eliminated from playoff contention, so this one is for pride.

Minnesota Wild in Pursuit of Stephane De Costa
The Minnesota Wild are in heavy pursuit for Merrimack's Stephane De Costa. The native of Paris, France is a dynamic forward who notched 45 points in 33 games as a sophomore. He is 5'11 and 180 lbs but has great vision and playmaker. It sounds like he is in heavy pursuit from several other teams, so let's hope Chuck Fletcher can lure De Costa here. It would be really fun to see what he can do in a Wild uniform.
Minnesota Wild Halt 8 Game Skid
The Minnesota Wild ended a rough 8 game losing streak with a 3-2 shootout victory over the St. Louis Blues, in St. Louis. Eric Nystrom and Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored in regulation for the Minnesota Wild. Mikko Koivu and Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored in the shootout to secure the victory. It is a bittersweet victory, since the odds of making the playoffs are virtually 100-1 but at least it stops the 8 game losing streak. Next up is the Edmonton Oilers at the Xcel Energy Center on Thursday night.

Minnesota Wild Suffers Worst Home Defeat
I wish this was an optimistic column, I really do. Yesterday the Minnesota Wild were defeated by the Montreal Canadians 8-1 at the Xcel Energy Center. 8 goals. Three of them were scored from rookie defenseman P.K. Subban. It was the worst loss in franchise history. It was the 5th consecutive loss. Head coach Todd Richards may be coaching now to keep his job, after fans are becoming more vocal and have high expectations. Simply put, we want to see a playoff team that has the ability to make a Stanley Cup run. This season indicated we still need a big asset - scoring. We need some snipers that can bury the puck. All is not lost, as the team has a pretty good nucleus of Mikko Koivu, Brent Burns, Martin Havlat, Cal Clutterbuck, and Guillaume Latendresse. Hopefully we can manage to get back on track these last few weeks.Get your Minnesota Wild tickets with Hockey Tickets Minnesota!

Minnesota Wild Drop 2 Games
The Minnesota Wild lost 2 important games in 2 days, to the Nashville Predators and the Dallas Stars. On Thursday night, the Wild lost 4-0 to the Nashville Predators. On Friday night, the Wild once again lost 4-0 to the Dallas Stars. These two losses sting, as every game and every 2 points is huge. The Predators jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period against the Wild and never looked back. The Stars scored 3 times in the second period to break open a 1-0 game. The Wild will play at Vancouver on Monday night.

Minnesota Wild Host Colorado Avalance on Tuesday, March 8th
The Minnesota Wild will host the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday, March 8th at the Xcel Energy Center. The Minnesota Wild need two key points in this game, as the Avalanche are 26-31-8 for 60 points. After making the playoffs last season, the Colorado Avalanche have regressed this season and suffered some growing pains with a young team. Young star winger Matt Duchene continues to impress but needs some more help. The Colorado Avalanche have several Minnesotans on their roster, including Erik Johnson, Ryan Stoa, and Peter Mueller who are all from Bloomington. Minnesota Wild Fall to Buffalo Sabres In Overtime
The Minnesota Wild rallied to send the game into overtime against the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday night. However, Drew Stafford of the Sabres quickly netted the overtime game winner, just 46 seconds into overtime. The Buffalo Sabres went up 2-0 after a Rob Niedermayer goal early in the 2nd period. However, Warren Peters scored his first goal of the season and Marek Zidlicky scored a powerplay goal to notch the game at 2-2 going into the 3rd period. A scoreless 3rd period meant overtime at the Xcel Energy Center. Drew Stafford, a Wisconsin native who played at Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault, netted the game winner. He played collegiately at North Dakota. Next up: the Minnesota Wild host the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday, March 8th.

Trevor Gillies Suspended 10 Games For Hit on Cal Clutterbuck
Trevor Gillies, a goon for the New York Islanders, was slapped down by the NHL on Friday afternoon with a 10 game suspension. The 10 game suspension is a result of a vicious blind hit on Cal Clutterbuck, when Clutterbuck was not even involved in the play. Justice was served, as Gillies was just returning from a suspension already when he hit Clutterbuck. You must protect your players in the NHL and I'm glad the NHL hit him with a 10 game suspension. The Minnesota Wild host the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday at the Xcel Energy Center.
