Tyler Cuma Tears ACL at Xcel Energy Center

Tyler CumaSome unfortunate news: Minnesota Wild prospect Tyler Cuma sustained yet another injury and setback. Cuma tore his left ACL in a violent collision on the boards. Playing with the Houston Aeros, the team made an appearance at the Xcel Energy Center on Sunday to take on the Peoria Rivermen. He will have to undergo reconstructive surgery and is expected to miss six months. He has had several injuries since being drafted in the 1st round by the Minnesota Wild in 2008, 23rd overall. Here's to hoping for a fast recovery for Tyler Cuma.

Minnesota Wild Start Preseason This Week

Mikko KoivuThe Minnesota Wild will start their Preseason this Wednesday against the St. Louis Blues at the Xcel Energy Center. The offseason moved quickly and it's hard to believe that the hockey season is right around the corner. The Minnesota Wild will get some looks at some young faces for the preseason that have a chance to make the team. Those faces include Marco Scandella, Tyler Cuma, Nate Prosser, and Casey Wellman. The Minnesota Wild will hope for an injury-free preseason.

Minnesota Wild top prospect Tyler CumaIn the NHL, it is very important to build up your prospect pool. Having impact prospects allows teams to have consistency and collect young talent to build a franchise on. The Minnesota Wild will have to rely on their prospects to elevate their play after back to back playoff misses and hope to gather as much young talent as they can. Here are the Minnesota Wild's top prospects, according to Hockey's Future:

1. Tyler Cuma, D

Minnesota Wild went tough, but won’t endure

It is interesting to this MN Wild Freak that the Minnesota Wild didn’t extend a contract to either Aaron Voros or Todd Fedoruk, both Minnesota Wild tough guys. It surprises me because the Wild went so tough last year and then what? Decided to change direction? I don’t know. They drafted physical defenseman Tyler Cuma, but why not try to keep Voros or Fedoruk to insure enough muscle on the ice for the immediate next season. It seems worthless to put together a tough team and then let it fall apart so quickly.

As far as skill players go, the Minnesota Wild still haven’t sealed a deal with Brian Rolston. It appears Rolston is looking for a bigger offer and hoping to get one post July 1st. Keep checking my hockey wilderness blog for Minnesota Wild Roster updates!
