NHL Playoffs

The NHL playoffs are underway. The Minnesota Wild are not involved, unfortunately. I love watching the playoffs because of the intensity and pace. Players will play under any conditions and do whatever it takes to win. Last year, Duncan Keith lost 6 teeth from taking a puck to the face, and still played. On Saturday, Johan Franzen received 21 stitches to the face and stayed in the game. I love it. Here's who I'm hoping wins the Stanley Cup or goes far:

- Washington Capitals. Love Alexander Ovechkin

- Philadelphia Flyers. Mike Richards is a great captain and always liked the Fly Guys

- Los Angeles Kings. Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty are awesome players, even if Kopitar is hurt they are just a fun team to watch.

Minnesota Wild Defeat Los Angeles King 1-0 In Shootout

The Minnesota Wild defeated the Los Angeles Kings 1-0 in a shootout. Ironically, the shootout score was also 1-0. Niklas Bakstrom made 3 stops and Pierre Marc-Bouchard scored as the second shooter in the shootout. Both goalies made some great saves in regulation to keep the score 0-0. The overtime also went scoreless. Niklas Backstrom made an amazing save in the shootout against Jack Johnson as he tried to go top shelf with a sprawled out Bakstrom. Minnesota Wild Host Los Angeles Kings

The Minnesota Wild will host the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, February 1 at the Xcel Energy Center. The Los Angeles Kings have some of the best young talent in the NHL with defenseman Drew Doughty and center Anze Kopitar. Doughty was on Team Canada's gold medal winning team last year in Vancouver as a 20 year-old. The Los Angeles Kings are a team on the rise and qualified for the Western Conference playoffs last season. They will be looking to duplicate that feat this season.

Minnesota Wild vs. Los Angeles Kings

The Minnesota Wild will battle against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The Los Angeles Kings are 16-10 for 32 points this season. They have young defenseman stud Drew Doughty, who will be a Norris Trophy Candidate for years to come. Minnesota Wild Lose 5-1 to Vancouver Canucks

The Minnesota Wild were defeated by the Vancouver Canucks 5-1 on Saturday night. The Vancouver Canucks scored the first 4 goals of the game and the Wild were not able to mount a comeback. Antii Miettinen was the lone goal scorer for the Minnesota Wild. The loss caps a wild week for the Wild and Canucks. Vancouver goon Rick Rypien was suspended 6 games after grabbing a Minnesota Wild fan when he was headed to the locker room. The Minnesota Wild will now play the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night at the Xcel Energy Center.
