Three Wild Games I'm Most Looking Forward To

Here are three Wild games that I am really looking forward to.

Sautrday, October 8th - Blue Jackets. Why am I excited? It's the opener, duh. Got to start the season 1-0!

Sunday, February 19th - Boston Bruins. Okay I'm not the only one who is pumped to watch the Wild take on the defending champs.

Tuesday, October 18th - Pittsburgh Penguins. A couple of things, I think the Penguin mascot is one of the classier mascots in sports. Secondly, I love Sid the Kid and will not pass on the opportunity to watch him.

Daoust signs with the Wild

Jean-Michel Daoust, a player for the Minnesota Wild’s AHL Houston Aeros team, has recently signed a one-year contract with the team. Last season, Jean-Michel was the lead scorer with 21 goals and 34 assists. These points were racked up in the 78 games the Aeros played. Jean-Michel is originally from Quebec and signed with the Houston Aeros before the 2009-10 season began. He had come from the Pittsburgh Penguins’ AHL affiliate team and is really excited to finally get his chance in the NHL.

Pittsburgh Penguins take The Cup

Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins for being this years Stanley Cup Champions. What an interesting twist of fate that the Penguins were able to hoist Lord Stanley’s cup in front of the Detroit Red Wing fans when just a year ago, the roles were reversed. The hockey gods definitely have a sense of humor. It was a great game and a great final series.

Maybe the Wild will hoist the Stanley Cup one day….one day soon would be ideal for this MN Wild Freak.

Stanley Cup Final Game Tomorrow Night

It’s the 15th time in NHL Stanley Cup history that the Final Series is decided on game 7 and this series is definitely one for the history books. Have you been watching? Every game has been intense and is a reminder to me why I am such a hockey freak. I love this game!

The Detroit Red Wings are 11-1 on their home ice, during the playoffs, but the Pittsburgh Penguins are a team that is hungry for redemption after losing the Cup last year to the Wings in front of the Penguins fans. I am so excited for tomorrow nights game I can hardly wait. I bet the ticket brokers in Detroit are making a killing on this game – everyone wants to be there…including me, but I will settle for a ticket to watch the game from my couch! Man, I love this game!

NHL Playoffs without Minnesota Wild

The NHL Playoffs are pretty exciting as of late even with out the Minnesota Wild. I am thoroughly enjoying the Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins series especially with all the trash talk between sid the kid and ovie. I am also reveling at the strength of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the NHL Playoffs year after year. The Ducks are the 8th seed, but have been playing more like a top seed using their physical aggressive style of play to their full advantage.

I have to admit I am bummed that the Wild aren’t in the playoff mix, but it’s a good group of teams this season and frankly I don’t think the Wild had what it takes to be competing at this level any way. Not this year. Maybe next.

NHL playoffs

Well hockey fans, it looks like the two best teams in the NHL are on a collision course to make it to the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins both lead their conference final playoff series 3 games to none. I guess I can't say this MN Wild Freak is surprised. I love the NHL and I love professional hockey, it’s fitting the two best teams meet up. I just wish I wasn't watching it in my living room and was watching it at the Xcel Energy Center instead.

Marian Gaborik is Soft

Watching the Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins dominate the Minnesota Wild tonight made me long for a superstar that wasn't soft. I am so sick of Marian Gaborik and/or Pavol Demitra being sidelined with some lame injury. I wrote about this last year and unfortunately, the same crap is true this year. I don't know whether there is something in the water in Slovakia but Demitra and Gaborik are soft and I am sick of it. Both of them make way too much money to miss as many games as they do every year due to a "groin" injury. I wish that they would put on their "big girl" underpants and get back on the ice so we can see what this team can accomplish this year.

Remember, Last season, the Wild was 19-2-2 when Gaborik scored and 33-9-6 when he played.
